I’m a sucker for pretty sex toys, I’ll admit it. When it comes to feeling sexy, my personal taste is ultra feminine: think Atelier Bordelle lingerie or LELO vibrators -- sensual, dainty, and strong. So, when I saw a photo of Zalo & Upko’s rose-shaped ball gag on my Instagram feed, I knew I had to get it.
(Let me say right now that I’m not getting paid to write this. I really love the quality of this product and hope other people will enjoy it too.)
My order was placed through Detroit-based Spectrum Boutique on November 22, and I received it on November 26. Once it was delivered and out of its shipping packaging, I could tell that attention to detail had gone into its presentation. The packaging is a beautiful matte black with a glossy black design, gold lettering, and a gold thorny rose border. The window at the top shows the rose insert. The inside of the package reveals the ball gag and a velvet pouch for storing. It all feels exceptionally luxurious to the eyes as well as to the touch.
Attention to detail is everywhere with this thing, and Zalo’s website promises “...a collection of ornate, high-end adult products with eye-catching aesthetic at the forefront of every piece.” The ball gag is made from a softer grade silicone, Italian leather, and gold plated hardware with some weight to clasp it all shut. The gold plated studs and buckle create a warm contrast to the red rose and black leather. Together, it all feels elegant and durable. The rose petals in the insert also separated into three separate tiers for deeper cleaning. And since pieces of this product are silicone, it’s able to be washed by antibacterial soap and warm water, rinsed, dried, and then returned to the velvet bag.
The only downside to this product is that if you have a smaller head like I do, the gag fits a little loose and may need an additional hole punched into the leather to make it snug. Otherwise, wearing it didn’t cause me any discomfort or friction at the corners of my mouth.
I definitely felt like I deserved to have a portrait taken of me wearing this ball gag in a secret garden somewhere and having said portrait framed and hung in the Detroit Institute of Arts.
